(Originally posted on TGS' fb) In a slight departure from previous recent homecomings, the Divine Word College of Legazpi High School batch 1977, being the Host Class, ventured into reviving a whole day type of alumni affair, that is, one that would start from early morning and progress into the late evening, or even up to the wee hours of the next morning. Hence, the 12th DWC General Alumni Homecoming in May 4, 2002 started off with an early Thanksgiving Mass at the DWC Gym officiated by Rev Fr Isabelo San Luis, SVD, incidentally the batch's HS Principal during their halcyon days, and concelebrated by Rev Fr Alejandro Gobenciong, SVD and Rev Fr John Regalado, SVD. After the Thanksgiving Mass, the Alumni Motorcade immediately followed with some 1500 vehicles (an estimate that our honest government auditor and 2002 Homecoming OIC, Rey Binamira, refused to authenticate), an eclectic mix, indeed, from two wheelers to tricycles, from ancient Hi Aces, to modern Ravs, from the nov! eau rich' Nissan Patrols to Steve los Banos' priceless 1950's monster pick-up, etc, the motorcade enlivened by the upbeat music of the PNP Band and unlimited candies and goodies showered to onlookers c/o Peter Almeyda and Ferdinand Regalado. A symbolic Treeplanting ceremony was undertaken in Barrio Lidong, Sto Domingo by the Alumni Association led by President Butch Raneses as part of the association and the batch's CSR activities to plant at least a million trees before they all celebrate their golden
